Institute presentation
The ISS, the highest Italian institution devoted to Public Health Research, will provide infrastructural and administrative support. Our section (Behavioural Neuroscience, Dept. Cell Biology and Neuroscience) has full access to all the required facilities for animal housing and testing.
Core Equipment: ad hoc systems for video-recording and semi- automated analysis of behaviour; computer−controlled operant cages for measures of impulse-control disorders; neuroendocrinology and neurobiology labs.; Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Spectroscopy (MRI e MRS, 4.7 Tesla) for small rodents.
The team-specific expertise in the investigation of brain/behaviour regulations in altricial rodents – throughout ontogeny – in response to drug challenges constitutes a distinctiveness of the Consortium. Additionally, the team has a substantial expertise in the evaluation of social behaviour, spontaneous and experimentally-induced aggression, attention deficits, empathy-like behaviour, and reward processes. Finally, the team has a recognized expertise in the analysis of the aforementioned parameters throughout the entire course of development, encompassing infancy and adolescence.
